The Bachelorette S9 E2 "Right Reasons"

Fairy tale, unreal. . .just a few words that Des likes to {repeatedly} use on her bachelorette experience. Anywho, can I just say how happy I am to have another brunette bachelorette. I feel like it’s been way to long. And I love Des’s car! It is majorly adorable and reminds me of something Barbie would drive. (Obviously it would be pink for Barbie)

The first one on one date card arrives!! *Drumroll please* It's Brooks. Major disappointment. I want to see some fun people on the one on one dates not just the group dates.

Question: What is up with Des’s footwear? I’m assuming it has something to do with the date, but it looks like she’s getting ready to go wade fishing. {Nothing to do with the date, I guess she just likes wearing tall rain boots in the sun}

First impressions of Brooks, not really a big fan. It was nice of him not to freak out about trying on tuxes and stuff but over all he’s just kind of blah. Sorry dude. Sitting on the Hollywood sign was pretty cool and it would be nice to see it someday. Then they're back in the car moving on to the more romantic part of the date. I can't believe Brooks was acting like such a scaredy cat about the abandoned road and was all nervous to move the barrier to go down the blocked off road. If I were Des, that would be a turn off because I don’t want to be the braver of the two in the relationship. 

The group date is where all the excitement happens and when the men bring out their cattiness. In my opinion, the Bachelorette is more exciting than the Bachelor because I find the guys so much funnier than the women. Women are catty/nasty and the guys are competitive/funny. (Most of the time, I do think that the guys have some of that nasty streak in them)

“Who’s here for the right reasons?” Hmm…Interesting, date card, I guess we shall find out if there are any bad seeds soon enough. And what else would it could the card mean besides having a bunch of white dudes {and Will} rap, this is gonna be awesome! #hashtagman reminds me of Kasey “Guard and Protect Your Heart” and great news #hashtag's real name is Kasey (or is it Casey?) so now I won't forget his name.

Okay so how great is this that they are rapping about past bachelorette contestants. Hahaha Rated P-13! Omg I’m dying and I love these references. Poor Brandon, he’s so nervous and he doesn’t seem cocky at all which surprises me.

Zak W. who I wrote off the first week as a conceited into himself shirtless dude, is actually really sweet. I think he might be a good guy and I loved the antique journal present. That was really cool and I would love to have something like that!

"Don’t squish the butterfly" – Words of wisdom from Brandon

Ben is totally off the cool list, I think that he is only using his son to further his “game” and I honestly think that is all this is to him. He seems like he could pull a Bentley and totally crush Des. Plus he gives totally awkward kisses.

Side note I keep seeing all these people and I’m like who is that! I am having a hard time learning these dudes' names!

Brandon is a surprise, just like Zak W. I think there is definitely potential and he is very thoughtful. I can totally see why he was waay uncomfortable showing off his butt earlier.

So Ben gets the rose, ugh! She fell from Ben’s bologna again. WHY! Well I suppose I probably would get suckered into the whole kid act too. But come on! WHY!

One on one date numero dos: I’m excited for Bryden’s date. He seems like a great guy and he is pretty cute. I wonder if they played any fun road trip games, like I Spy or the alphabet game (If you don’t know what I’m talking about you are missing out on some serious car fun) Also how much time did they actually spend on the road. I want answers! Bryden seems very shy and I think it was nice how Des told him he could kiss her. To me it seemed like he was being respectful.

Cocktail party! Let the emotions come out. So Michael is taking his opportunity to share his story, which is good, and then Ben comes in and interrupts during this serious moment, and I think that Des should have told Ben to wait a second because that was rude. It frustrates me how they have no respect for each other's time! (Oh wait, they all are competing for the same girl) Mikey, Michael, and some random dude all decide it's time to have a second talk with Ben. They take him outside. And just talk. More like get annoyed and attitude-y. But I don't blame Michael. I'd be pissed too. I love how the guys are talking about Ben like the girls from last season were talking about Tierrable. It shows how similar girls and guys are sometimes, except most of the time guys don’t use their words. . .but I think we see more of that later on this season.

The Rose Ceremony was kinda surprising. Des kept calling out all these guys who have gotten like zero screen time and kept someone like Brandon hanging on until the last possible second. And I definitely think Des says One Pablo instead of Juan Pablo and it makes me laugh.

Eliminated: Will, Robert (No!!!!! L), and Nick M.

P.S. How can you feel "really rejected" when you barely spend 5 minutes with the girl?

Love the rap video at the end, but now I have "right reasons, right reasons" stuck in my head. Next week looks like it will be promisingly full of drama and I can't wait. Especially to see who had the girlfriend.

Fall 2013 Lineup

Earlier in May, I was checking websites (ew.com more specifically) to see what shows had been renewed/cancelled and to see what up and coming shows look interesting to me. For some reason, I love the anticipation and the excitement of new tv. Very few of my favorite shows I have started with from the beginning. And some of the shows that I have, my interest is waning. And being a tv addict, I am quite curious to see what the fall holds for my weeknights. Because let's face it, there is not too much excitement going on for summer tv. I am excited for a longer season of Big Brother and my guilty pleasure, Bachelor Pad, will be on in August. But mostly the networks save their "big" named shows for the fall. So here are some shows that I think will be worth giving a try:

Marvel's Agents of S.H.E.I.L.D.

Okay so I was like a year late getting on board with all the Avengers movies (Thor, Iron Man (1, 2, 3) Captain America, and the Avengers) but I am in love!! Those movies are awesome, funny, and full of some good super hero action. From watching the preview of this show it looks more like a movie advertisement but maybe that is because all I know from this series are movies. I'm not sure how it will fare on tv. It seems like it might be similar to the show Heroes which was good for the first 2 seasons and then started to go sour and lost my interest. Here is the preview so you can judge for yourself.

Once Upon a Time in Wonderland

It was not too long ago I was eagerly awaiting the premiere of Once Upon a Time because I was fascinated with the idea of fairy tales and other stories being presented in a new way on tv. Unfortunately I have fallen behind on the second season and now must find a way to catch up. When I heard about this show I was very interested, apparently it will somehow link the two stories together but still stand alone. I think that my sister would be very happy to hear about this show since she loves everything Alice. The preview does look promising. Unfortunately it's on the same night/time as The Vampire Diaries so I'll have to catch up on one the next day.

Trophy Wife

Although I have found some roles Malin Ackerman has played to be quite annoying (27 Dresses to name one) I do find that I like her as an actress. This show looks like a fun comedy that has potential. I hope it sticks around for at least a season. Here's the preview.

Hostages

To add a little drama and sleepless nights to my life why not add a 24-esque show to my weekly watching list. This show looks like it has all the outlines of 24 without Jack Bauer (but never fear he will be back to tv soon!) I think this looks like a show hubby might even like. Perhaps our new Monday night show.

Welcome to the Family

I've been going through some major Desperate Housewives withdrawal since last years series finale. So I am quite happy to see that Carlos is in a new show. I will definitely try to squeeze it into the busy Thursday night lineup.

The American Baking Competition Episode 1

You might be a redneck if. . . you host a baking competition? Not a likely pairing in my opinion but Jeff Foxworthy is the host of the new show The American Baking Competition; I’m still waiting for the punch line. 

On another note it is probably not a good idea to watch a show about desserts while trying to eat healthier/lose weight.

There seems to be quite an interesting group of contestants. I was a little confused as to how they laid out this episode because I thought I missed all the contestant intros, but they are actually just scattered throughout the show. I think this makes it a lot more difficult to remember who is who. James thinks every girl loves apple pie, I myself am more of a blueberry girl, but apple is in the top 5. Whitney is overly full of herself and thinks that eating all that junk won’t someday catch up to her and make her fat. Brian is someone I wish would just come and clean my house because there would never be a mess with him around.

 Tonight's food theme centers around pies and the judges believe that “soggy bottom” is a big no-no (Pretend someone with a British accent is saying this). So pre bake your piecrust people! (Of course Whitney does not ever do that, but honestly I don’t either)

The contestants keep talking about stress and how that they won't allow it in their kitchen. If I ever competed on a cooking/baking show I would probably dissolve into tears with the first half hour because I do not cope well under that kind of pressure. So props to all the contestants for not shedding any tears - so far.

The first of the 3 challenges is the Signature Bake. Basically the contestants make whatever pie their heart desires to try and impress the judges.

Carlo made an Easter Ricotta Pie – and the judges claim it has soggy bottom! The ultimate fail

James's girl worthy Apple Pie – this one has a “Staggering” bottom. Who knew bottoms were so important to the pie world? 

Whitney's Lemon Meringue – Uh-ohs Whit you've got a soggy bottom! Should have pre baked!

Francine made a bacon, chocolate, peanut butter pie? Sounds like a Paula Deen special. And the judges love it! I might be willing to try it except for my distaste of peanut butter.

Also who is this Paul Hollywood fellow? Apparently, in Francine's words he's the "George Clooney of the cooking world". Well whoever he is, he has beautiful bright blue eyes! And his accent * swoon *

The second challenge is a technical bake and they are making a meat pie (blech). Okay after seeing the example it doesn’t look that bad. I just don’t like dessert words associated with dinner. And it’s very nice of Paul Hollywood to let the contestants use his recipe.

Effie is my kind of girl, I definitely need to be in control too.

So this time they are judging blindly (hmm what does that remind me of? The Taste, anyone?)

For the final challenge of the evening it is the Show Stopping Bake. 36 Sweet tartlets! I would be in agony trying to perfect each and every 36 of my tartlets that I would probably end up like Jeremy and have a mini meltdown. 

So what do the contestants need to do for the judges? "Punch them in the face with flavor!" Oh Whitney, I hope you make it to next week because your one-liners are gold. Francine is also great and I love that she uses a Ziploc bag for piping, I have tried that method and it comes out like crap. I could not go back from my fancy piping bag.

There are some pretty tarts and then some real ugly ones! Paul Hollywood said it right when Carlo’s looked like they were full of tar. The apple blossom one is quite adorable though. And I’m glad to see Elaine pull through because I felt bad after her peach pie pool mishap.

I think that Carlo is a prime candidate for elimination. His desserts have been pretty weak.

So I’m still unsure of Jeff’s true role (I mean host obviously, he seems so out of place though), He seems to just wander around, sample things, and deliver the bad news.

The Bachelorette Season 9 Episode 1

So it’s that time again. Bachelor nation get excited! I have been waiting for this moment basically since Chris Harrison announced Desiree Hartsock as our new Bachelorette. And from the previews of what is coming up for this season it looks like it is going to be crazy. 

Usually, I prefer the Bachelorette because I think that the men are a lot more fun to watch and way less catty. But there have definitely been some bad guys on past seasons (Frank, Justin, Bentley. . .to name a few). Sometimes I feel like it’s the producers stirring up drama for better ratings and that’s really unfair. 

The filler clips of Desiree and Chris were the usual recaps and lets reminisce about last season blah blah, the best part was looking at Des’s great clothes. I really love her infinity ring and that pinkish blouse she wore on the beach. 

Side note: Now that Chris Harrison is single do you think that he might try and find love with a previous contestant?

Now comes the time to meet the men. These are my first impressions of who I think are good final four candidates. (And I wonder if Jimmy Kimmel will agree with me)

Standouts:

Drew – He seems really sweet and down to earth

Robert – He owns his own company and is outdoorsy, plus has those baby blues and he sorta reminds me of Jef (Emily’s season)

James – When he started talking to Des he sounded so sincere and kind and I liked what he had to say about loyalty

Ben – How sweet to be so upfront with Des about his son, Brody is so adorable! (As the night is going on I think that talking about your son all the time is not the right way to approach this, it seems like he thinks that Brody got him the rose, that’s bringing your son for the wrong reasons)

These guys should go home ASAP:

The Magician - Magic is creepy and it looks like you’re trying waaaay to hard. (Loved the end commentary from some of the guys about magic and how uncool it is)

Zak W. - So cocky! Ugh I would not want a guy to be so into himself, showing up shirtless? You look like a real tool

Didn’t catch his name but First night room key dude Jonathan: AH! Des was so uncomfortable by this and I think majorly turned off. He was so out of line and I would be surprised if he made it through the night

Kasey: #Ihopeyoudontcontinuebecauseicanttakeyouhashtaggingallthetime

I feel bad for Larry, he was trying to be sweet and he made her rip her dress. And his attempt to make the situation better later seemed to have failed. They just didn’t seem to have ehemistry.

The cocktail party brings out all kinds of craziness. I thought the Zak W. was going to take it all off and glad to see that he didn’t make it that awkward. “Fantasy Suite” man as Larry so hilariously dubbed him, is totally drunk and comparable to 50 shades girl. Thank goodness she sent his butt home. He was totally out of line and definitely creepy.

The Rose ceremony:

Yay she kept all four of my standouts! I have high hopes for Robert, Drew, Ben, and James. Unfortunately Kasey and Zak W. made it through with a rose. We shall see how long #hashtag lasts unless he just keeps all that nonsense to his diary room commentary.

Sent home: Fantasy Suite Guy, Larry, Knight in Shining Armor, Patchwork Suit Shirt Guy, Magician Man, and McDreamy

We shall see what happens in the coming weeks on the most dramatic season of the Bachelorette ever! (My best Chris Harrison impression)
